First Flight was etablished to elevate awareness of Stephen F. Austin State University Aviation Program (Flying Jacks), and to inspire interest in aviation-related careers among K-12 students across the greater East Texas region. The Aviators Ball serves as our signature annual fundraiser, providing critical financial support to Flying Jack students. All proceeds directly benefit both the Flying Jacks and our youth aviation outreach initiatives.

Aspiring aviators in the program are required to complete five FAA check rides, each contributing to an estimated $6,000 in out-of-pocket expenses beyond standard training costs. First Flight is committed to helping alleviate this finical burden, ensuring that dedicated students can continue their journey toward a career in aviation.

In addition, we are investing in resources and hands-on tools designed to introduce young students to the possibilities within aviation. Aviation connects the world-and through First Flight, we strive to connect our youth to the opportunities it offers.
